Pont de la Palombe
You are here
This new bridge is part of the work to upgrade the area around the station in Bordeaux. On both sides of the tracks, there will be new apartments, shops, residential areas and offices.
This bridge is important for connecting the two parts of the city and for the smooth flow of traffic. Normal road traffic will be able to cross the bridge in one direction and will form a large roundabout with an existing bridge. Buses will be able to cross the bridge in two directions. Of course the bridge is also accessible for cyclists and pedestrians.
The bridge is 200m long and not only sits on abutments but also on 2 intermediate pillars in the middle of the tracks. From abutment to abutment there are 23 tracks.
The bridge was launched in two phases over this railway track.
The bridge, designed by Architect Mimram, weighs 2,000T and is 17m wide.
The 2 arches are exceptional examples of architecture.
A steel bike lane and footpath has been built on the concrete structure of rampe Armagnac in a bend of 100m, connected to the bike lane and footpath of the bridge.
