A6 Drumahoe to Dungiven
SWS (Sacyr, Wills Bros & Somague JV) is Main Contractor for the Civil Works of a new high standard dual carriageway between Dungiven and Drumahoe (25.5 kilometres). Within this carriageway there are two steel bridges (S05 and S07). Victor Buyck will manufacture, deliver, and erect the steel structure of these bridges, with a total weight of 1620 tonnes. The bridges are executed in weathering steel, so no paint system is to be applied. The main deck consists of longitudinal plate girders in weathering steel with permanent bracings in between. The connection to the concrete is done by means of welded shear studs.
Bridge S05 is erected in two phases to minimise the impact on the traffic flow in the region.
S05 phase A consists of 2 double girders and S05 phase B consists of 3 double girdes, both with a span of 82meter. Bridge S07 consists of 3 double girders with a span 57meter.
