Montgomery bridge installed in London’s Canary Wharf

London, United Kingdom - Victor Buyck has fabricated, transported and installed a 200T bascule bridge across the Bellmouth Passage in Canary Wharf, London. The steel structure was loaded on 2x 6-axle SPMTs and driven on a 65m long, seagoing barge at our Wondelgem site. From there, a tugboat towed the barge across the Channel, up the Thames and into the London Docklands. On Monday 13 August the barge was attached to 4 mooring points. The bridge was then rotated, raised, moved and lowered on its abutments. The transport and installation was successfully executed by HEBO Maritiemservice.

The bridge is now connecting Montgomery Street in Canary Wharf to Water Street in the new Wood Wharf district. Victor Buyck thanks explicitly all parties involved as this operation was an example of very successful collaboration!
