Description
HS2 is a new high-speed rail line currently under construction that will run between London and Birmingham. As part of this, Victor Buyck has been commissioned to fabricate, supply and assemble the straddle bents for the new Water Orton No. 1 Viaduct. The project includes 3 closed caisson girders with a length of +/- 30 metres manufactured entirely in weather-resistant steel.
Because of their high weight, the girders are manufactured in 2 parts in our Eeklo workshop and then transported to the construction site by exceptional transport to be welded together.
After assembly, the beams are placed on their final location by means of a large crawler crane, where they are concreted in.
