Description
Mid-2021, The Werkvennootschap decided to award the conversion of the 14 junctions of the R4 West and East to BRAVO4. The consortium includes contractors Besix and Stadsbader. Design and engineering firm NEY will assist them throughout the process.
As part of the conversion, Victor Buyck will supply and assemble no fewer than 4 steel structures in a period from 2024 to 2028. The 4 bridges are located in Wondelgem within a radius of 1.5 km around our production site in Wondelgem (BUMAR).
The new road bridge has a pyramid shape and will become the gateway to Ghent via the North, as it were. With 3 lanes in both directions, a cycle path and an eco-passage, this 5m wide bridge will cross the Ringvaart. Furthermore, the railway bridge over the R4 will be replaced by a new one and it will be extended with a new cycle bridge to the North-East of the railway bridge. Finally, a new cycle bridge will be built over the R4 that will connect new and existing cycle networks along the R4.
