Description

The A43 Brackley Overbridge is part of the HS2 project which provides a high-speed link between London and Birmingham. It is a bridge for road traffic that spans approximately 65 m under which the high-speed trains will run.

The structure consists of 14 main beams that are connected two by two with bracings to form braced pairs. The bridge parts are made of weathering steel, S355.

Victor Buyck will manufacture and install the steel braced pairs, using a crawler crane, on behalf of KIER, which in turn works on behalf of the JV EKFB. In total this is approximately 780T steel.

The project is being built according to a top-down approach. This means that after placing the bridge girders, KIER will concrete the deck and excavate below to create space for the railway passage.
