Description

The Talbrücke over the valley of the river Rahmede in Lüdenscheid (Germany) is a viaduct of approximately 450m that is part of the A45 highway between Dortmund and Frankfurt. During a bridge inspection in 2021, damage was found in the superstructure of the bridge, which immediately closed it to all traffic. The existing bridge was demolished and will be replaced by a new steel viaduct.

The bridge consists of two viaducts (one for each direction). Each viaduct is a closed caisson girder of 450m long, 4.7m high and 6.0m wide. The structure is made of a combination of steel S355 and S460.

On behalf of the Austrian steel builder MCE, Victor Buyck will produce and preserve 12 elements (28 transport parts) of a total of 40 elements. Together this amounts to 1,700 tons of steel and a length of 275 m (out of a total of 900 m). The transport parts consist of half caissons that are picked up by MCE from Victor Buyck and assembled by them on site.
