Gull Wing bridge Lowestoft

Description

Victor Buyck Steel Construction fabricates and installs the structural steelwork of the approach viaducts and the bascule bridge sections of the Gull Wing bridge, crossing Lake Lothing. The main contractor is Farrans Construction, the client is Suffolk County Council.

The new Lake Lothing crossing will minimise congestion on the current infrastructure network and thus improve accessibility, but also directs the development of the city of Lowestoft. The new
bascule bridge is also higher and longer than the existing bridges so that larger ships can pass without opening the bascule bridge.
