Brigands Bridge centerpiece of BK time trial in Ingelmunster

(June 16, 2021)
Yves Lampaert, the new Belgian time trial champion, received the gold trophy in front of his own home crowd in Ingelmunster. At the foot of the 300m long Brigands Bridge in the center of Ingelmunster, the starting gun was given for the race on 16 June 2021. The Brigands Bridge, with its approx. 10 meter rise at 4%, and two other bridges over the Roeselare-Leie canal, provide altimeters in the otherwise flat course. The elite riders rode three laps for a total of 37.6 km. Lampaert covered this distance in 44 minutes and 48.961 seconds. Good for an average speed of 50.34 km/h. With this he drove respectively 20 and 41 seconds faster than Evenepoel and Campenaerts. Kopecky took home the gold trophy for the ladies. She rode the course at an average speed of 42.15 km/h.

We are proud that this beautiful brand new iconic bridge from our workshops in Eeklo and Wondelgem was allowed to be part of the Belgian Championship time trial. Below is a photo from 2018 during the construction of the bridge.

On June 18, 2022, Gavere will be the host city for the Belgian Championship time trial.
