Victor Buyck starts assembling the A737 Garnock Viaduct in Dalry, UK

Dalry, United Kingdom - The site team of Victor Buyck has started the assembly of the Garnock Viaduct in Dalry, UK. This viaduct is a part of the A737 Dalry Bypass scheme, currently being constructed by Farrans Roadbridge JV.

This weathering steel bridge with a width of 19 meter will span 250 meter, 14 meter above the valley. The structure will cross the River Garnock and the Ayr-Glasgow railway line. The bridge deck will be assembled and launched over the valley in two phases. This enables a safe way of working and a minimal disruption of the railway.

Main girders, cross girders and side girders have been manufactured in Eeklo, Belgium and are transported to the site with trailers and ferries. Once the pieces arrive on site, they are lifted in place and consequently welded or bolted to the existing pieces. Temporary steel structures (in blue) will allow to assemble and launch the bridge.

To be continued…
